What's a Payroll Export?

Many businesses use accounting software like QuickBooks or Peachtree or a payroll service like ADP or Paychex. Each service or software package needs its time and attendance data in a different format, so the data collected by TimePilot needs to be "translated" into a format the service or software can understand. These "translators" are called exports. You can install payroll exports from dozens of different companies by simply clicking on the "Install Payroll Export" button on the "Pay Periods" tab.

Here's how to find and install the export for your payroll service or software package:

  1. Start TimePilot Central 5.
  2. Select Pay Periods tab.
  3. Click the "Install Payroll Export" button.
  4. Select the Payroll export you want and click "Install"
  5. Once the payroll export is installed it will appear in the list of Payroll Exports in the box on the left.
  6. If you want to install additional exports, repeat the above steps.

To learn how to use your newly installed export refer to the help in the payroll export.

You can also export your data to Excel (.xlsx), Word (.docx) or PDF format. For that, you won't need to download an export. Here's how to do it:

  1. Run a report in TimePilot Central from the Reports tab.
  2. Click the "Export" button at the top of the screen report screen.
    Click the circled icon to export a report in Excel, Word or PDF formats.
  3. Select the format (Excel, Word or PDF) you want from the list displayed.
  4. Click "Save."
